Natural Wonders
Framed by the majestic Mekong River and dramatic limestone peaks, Luang Prabang is a natural wonderland. Waterfalls, hiking trails, butterfly farms, river kayaking, rock climbing and emerald green rice fields surround the picturesque town. Across the Mekong, in Chomphet District, visit a typical Lao village and walk along the riverside trail to hundred-year-old monasteries and an ancient temple cave system. Head south to the world famous Kuang Si Falls, where turquoise blue waters tumble into a series of cool refreshing pools. Trek through jungle trails to nearby Hmong and Khmu villages and see rice farmers tend their verdant paddies and weave gorgeous textiles as they have for centuries.
